This is it for the 2019 minor league season…

Johnson City at Burlington, 6:30 pm ET/5:30 pm CT, Jake Sommers (0-0, 1.80)

Sommers has been their most consistent pitcher all season. If I were to guess he’ll be up against Angel Zerpa for Burlington.

On paper Burlington is a better team especially pitching, but this is a one game series right now and if Sommers is on (ala HSoto yesterday) that could be the difference.

It would be nice to win at least one league crown.

I have no doubt Burlington has better pitching but JC could have at least 5 future big leaguers in the lineup. They are not void of talent.

Johnson City wins 8-6. Appy League champs again.

Great win for the Championship. This team won its last two games of the regular season to make the playoffs, then dispatched Bristol for the division crown by winning the last two games of the series after losing the first game, then after losing the first game of the 3 game series they came back to win the final two games to win all the marbles.

The team fought back from being one game from elimination during the final days of the season and both play-off series. An excellent experience for these very young prospects. While all of the other affiliates were being eliminated one by one, Johnson City made us proud to have one championship in the organization.

Lots of excitement from the Mountain Cards.
