Dylan Carlson hit his 6th homer tonight at Palm Beach and his overall line is up to .262/.359/.388.

State College with the relative offensive explosion for them tonight with 8 runs…but the opposition has 9, currently. Delvin Perez with 3 singles to bring his average to .297.

Perez with game of his career so far tonight. Ground rule 2 rbi double added to his three singles. Throw a walk on top of that and he has been on base all 5 times.

Its nights like this for Perez that wipe away some of the past two seasons. Its great to see him finally showing off some of his potential and putting together a solid season at short season A ball. After last night, thoughts of Peoria for him abound.

Its not just last night mind you, he has been solid for most of ’18, and just getting better.

I have dreams of the left side of our infield someday being DeJong and Perez. Still a long way to go but hopefully Delvin keeps it up!

Gscott…my dreams look something like Montero-Perez with Dejong at 2B and Stormin’ Gorman slugging homers from 1B. But I like the thought of Perez and his glove holding down SS if his bat can even be average.

Counterpoint on Perez: Being good for “most of ’18” = a majority of 20 games played. That is it. He wasn’t good in EST because he wasn’t there.

Counter-counterpoint: Hey, its just good to know that he can actually hit pro pitching. Up until now I wasn’t sure.

Yes it is a small sample size for Perez this year but if he was hitting .180 people would be making a big deal about it so we might as well celebrate the small victories while we can.

Don’t get me wrong. 20 games is a nice start. It is clearly his best stretch of play since 2016. Having said that, he isn’t vaulting back into my top 20 until he sustains his performance over a longer period of time. Getting more extra-base hits would be nice, too.
