stlcard25ParticipantWhat a great story it would be if he becomes a contributor for the big league club. You’d have to think he’s got to at least get a look in the bullpen at some point.

stlcard25ParticipantGorman hit his 7th dinger tonight!

ParticipantOne poster didn’t want to include Ponce as a possible starter for the Cards in the future. That’s a mystery to me.
July 15, 2018 at 11:01 pm #60428Being an effective major league reliever would be nothing to be embarrassed about. Poncedeleon would need a lot of help to crack St. Louis’ rotation, though. Is it impossible? Of course not. Just less likely.
See Joe Kelly, Tyler Lyons, Mike Mayers, etc…
From Eric Longenhagen, Fangraphs, on Poncedeleon:
“…though he might just be a bullpen piece, as his control and fastball effectiveness vary if he’s not getting over his front side consistently.”

July 15, 2018 at 11:26 pm #60429Baker 2-2. Six for 10 so far with a home run. Still not playing the whole game so he will probably be in the GCL until he is ready to play every day and a full game.
O’Reilly seven shutout innings.
Saw Johnson City play at Burlington last night. Expect to go again Monday. Fun team to watch.
July 15, 2018 at 11:53 pm #60430Sooner, you hit one of JC’s few good-pitched games this season. Also, what did you see in Woodall?
July 16, 2018 at 10:35 am #60471The #STLCards system went 5-2 on Sunday, plus there were two All-Star games at opposite ends of the minor league spectrum. Our Player of the Day is Memphis right-hander Daniel Poncedeleon, who threw a complete-game, one-hit shutout. https://t.co/4HpET5b6L9 pic.twitter.com/sc0KAemfCK

July 16, 2018 at 10:59 am #60479Brian, Woodall went 0-4 with 2 strikeouts but he did not look overpowered at the plate. Johnson City was facing Burlington’s best pitcher and overall the Cardinals treated him pretty rough. Gorman hit him hard.
Zamora did a good job and had a 5-2 lead into the 6th. But as often has happened this season the pen betrayed him. Oca game up a game tying two run homer to the first batter he faced.
I am going to the final game of the Burlington series tonight and will post some overall thoughts tomorrow. Hope to see more of Gomez who has just been killing the ball. Only batted once Saturday night. He is a big 6-4 guy and played first base.
July 16, 2018 at 11:02 am #60481Thank you, Sooner. I will be looking forward to your next report as well.
