August 5, 2019 at 8:06 pm #101039Honest question. Is it preferred to hope Gyorko will be a failure as a Dodger just to reinforce the decision to trade him away?
The Cards decided to go with Munoz and Edman. Gyorko is gone. He is a good guy. I wish him well down the road, even if that gives Cardinals front office critics more fodder. (Unless the two teams meet in the post-season, of course!)
August 5, 2019 at 8:11 pm #101041I don’t a dog in this fight. I honestly didn’t think Gyorko would survive the whole year in St. Louis this season but seeing how the trade went down and the inaction at the deadline I can see both sides to your tweet.

August 5, 2019 at 9:54 pm #101053IMO, the Gyorko trade was a non-event. I don’t think he would do any better than what we currently have since he had wrist surgery. He was going to be gone at the end of the year, anyway. We received a lottery ticket for him just like some want for Fowler, Carpenter, Cecil, Leone and Wacha. I really hope he does great as a Dodger. It won’t change my opinion that it was a good trade. The Cardinals need to get some of the young guns some playing time.

Rosscup
1 IP 1 ER 5 BB
August 6, 2019 at 8:34 am #101093It was 2-3 Monday for the #stlcards system. Wins came at the highest and lowest levels – Memphis and DSL Red. Player of Day Ramon Urias hit two home runs in the Redbirds’ win. Junior Gonzalez had 5 scoreless IP but was let down by State College’s pen. https://t.co/eRs6qzk8UW pic.twitter.com/vWmd9Q1O6v

August 6, 2019 at 8:34 am #101094Booyah, at least he’s in the minors…… they let their “big pickup” Mejia pitch for the actual Cardinals!
For Rosscup, 5 BB and only 1 ER….. that is an impressive line!! I’ve been following baseball for a lot of years, and don’t recall seeing anything like that.
August 6, 2019 at 8:50 am #101098There’s only 2 teams in the entire system with winning records. Heck even Springfield, which is having a much better 2nd Half season, is now 1 game under .500
August 6, 2019 at 10:13 am #101118I agree with forsch regarding the Gyroko trade. Why are we still talking about it? If you ranked the top 100 transactions of the 2019 MLB trade deadline in regards to significance I’m not sure it would even make the list. The fact that we are still talking about it illustrates how lame our trade deadline activity was.

stlcard25ParticipantI agree with forsch regarding the Gyroko trade.
Gscottar, not to be the spelling guy but I notice it a lot and there’s no PM function so…it’s Jedd Gyorko, not Gyroko.
August 6, 2019 at 11:22 am #101133It is probably just easier to refer to him as Jedd. Regardless of his name the trade was a nothing burger.

stlcard25ParticipantAgreed, Gscottar. I think people are upset because of the return being two injured players more than anything. In the end, Jedd gets a shot at a ring and maybe the lotto ticket pays off.
