Peoria at Beloit: Paul BalestrieriPeoria has put out its starters for the Beloit series and Balistrieri may be a stretch. However, starting Friday the Chiefs will be facing 9 games in 6 days and with some deteriorating conditions in their rotation already, its going to take some unorthodox planning to get through that stretch for starters and the bullpen. There will be some tired arms come June 1.
I could see Peoria dropping and re-adding pitchers after those 3 double headers.
In other news, Austin Warner was dominate today for Palm Beach. Complete game, 3-hit shutout with 10 K’s and only 1 BB. I see him being the next guy getting promoted to Springfield. He’s done nothing but be impressive since signing out of the Frontier League.
Warner had a game score of 96 which is higher than the 92 GS that Gomber had in his scoreless, 16K, 0BB game on 23 April.
Gomber had another good game tonight but Clapp pulled a Matheny and left him too long. Gomber ran out of gas in the 9th giving up a leadoff double followed by a single. He left the game after 8+ innings with runners on the corners and no outs. Guilmet came for the save and got a sac-fly for out #1 which scored a run and then gave up single to put runners on the corners again. He then proceeded to get a strike out for out #2 and a ground out for the 3rd out.
Nice 2-1 win there for the Redbirds.
Springfield won earlier today in a home run barrage 9-7.
Peoria loses 0-2 tonight.System went 3-1 today.
