stlcard25ParticipantI keep hoping for McGreevy in the standouts after a start.
He’s holding his own in his first full pro season at AA. I would like to see him dominating too, but he’s been acceptably good. The Texas league has combined for a 5.11 ERA and 1.493 WHIP. McGreevy is looking decent at 4.65 ERA and 1.393 WHIP. “A little better than average” isn’t the most exciting, I know. But I’m pleased with his progress.

Hearing Walker isn’t moving up but preparing for AFL but that could change.
I think Walker and Winn are musts for playing in the AFL. Graceffo and McGreevy have probably thrown too many innings.
I would really like to see Tink Hence make the team too. I think he has passed the other big 3 (Liberatore, Graceffo, and McGreevy) on the prospect list.
September 8, 2022 at 1:39 pm #199739I’ve been holding off on Hence passing them all, as facing a line up the second and third time is more challenging. The other pitching prospects’ results would probably look a lot better, too, if they got to head to the showers after getting just 12 outs.
Having said that, I like Hence a lot, but considering how carefully he has been treated this season, it would really surprise me if he plays in the AFL.

September 10, 2022 at 7:22 am #199959As to the discussion about Hence, above, lots of guys look good in A ball. I am interested to see what his development path looks like from here. Some other guys ahead of him on the time line were mentioned and generally fall into the catagory of pitchers that skipped up through the system, or sped up through it, handful of innings and off to the next level, skipping levels, young for league. Necessary or not, there is not much in the way of examples that it works out. They all run into trouble and, so far, have not worked through it to live up to the hype slathered on when they were in the lower levels. Hopefully there is a learning curve and Hence benefits from it.

ParticipantSeems like the table has turned. In the past the Cards have used pitchers as trade chits to bring in position players like Holliday, Ozuna, Goldy, Nado, etc. Now they may have to do the reverse.

stlcard25ParticipantLibby with a good game tonight. 6 scoreless innings. I wonder what his main struggle is this year? Seems like he alternates good with bad outings.

ParticipantLeahy’s a good pitcher. That 5.33 ERA and 1.60 WHIP aren’t representative.
