I’m not totally ready to give up on Libby…he seems to mix these great starts with duds like last time out. 2023 is about getting the consistency down as he’ll be 23 and has guys like Graceffo, McGreevy and to a lesser extent, Hence and Paniagua nipping at his heels for rotation spots.
On another note, does anyone on TCN keep a running list of the POTDs and notable efforts? It would be interesting to look back and see the trends on pitching vs hitting and who would have the most honors.

I remember following Tyrone Horne during his 37 home run season. I believe that team had Joe McEwing hitting close to .350 most of the season, too.They really formed an exciting duo to look up each week in the back of my Baseball America newspaper.
Overall Tommy Parsons has had a solid season. I wonder if he might have a shot of getting a roster spot next Spring. He isn’t getting any younger. He kind of reminds me of Jake Woodford in that he would probably be a decent long relief guy or spot starter. They might not want both on the big league roster though.
Barring trades there are probably 19 relievers ( for 8 spots) ahead of Parsons. And all but Thomas have a 40 man roster spot

Any FA signingsParsons is fighting for a Spring Training invite. With that many 40 man pitchers and Paniaqua, Graceffo, and McGreevey all most likely getting invites, that is a lot of pitchers for limited innings. Even then, I think he would have tô be super lights out due tô the lack of a 40 man roster spot
But anything is possible.
Two things maybe in Parson’s favor:
Mo might be reluctant to let someone who has shown some ability get loose without having had a chance here. He has been bit a few times by that.
Some of those 19 guys maybe won’t be here by next spring.

Bling, I bet at least 16 of them are. That still puts 8 guys ahead of him. And it would be the rare off season that se didnt sign a bullpen piece.

The article on Saturday’s Memphis game has a clip of Gorman’s HR which is quite encouraging. It was a meatball up and out over the plate far enough so if he had gotten around on it in typical pull hitter fashion he would have connected out beyond the sweet spot and near the end of the bat. Instead he got it on the sweet spot taking it to straight away center field. That is exactly what he was not doing all year.

Maybe so. I guess one thing Parsons has going in his favor is that he has been one of, if not the best, pitcher at Memphis this year. Whether that can overcome his age and lack of a 40 man spot remains to be seen. He is kind of in no man’s land like Oviedo and Rondon so perhaps he gets a shot with a different organization.
