A couple of observations: Dunn’s 3 for 4 puts him over .400 at .404. This is at AAA after his promotion from AA. He and Baker might force their way to STL.

Peoria’s starters haven’t given up an ER in the last four games.

That PB blow-out was in 98 temperature. Hansen lowered his ERA to 3.19 Whip= 1.11 AVR=.211 105 Ks/93 IP. This 6’2″ 3rd rounder out of Texas U. may be a guy to fast track….. 23 at A ball?

Rotondo is batting .350 since his promotion to A+ Peoria. UFA Kretzschmar is hitting .393 in his first 10 games at PB.

    Good observations, Ny.

The realist in me suggests that Baker (who has been up twice already, just to sit on the bench) and anyone else not named Winn wouldn’t play with StL the rest this season, anyway, barring a rash of key injuries. The cutting of September rosters to 28 really hurts prospects.

Not sure why they are waiting to promote Hansen (and Mautz). We have been more aggressive on Hansen than most. He is #15 in our newest, fully-combined rankings.

Brian, I’m second-thinking my comment regarding Baker and Dunn and you are most probably correct. Baker should stay at Memephis and pad his numbers and is likely a strong candidate for the league’s MVP. Even if if Goldschmidt gets hurt there are still STL player options to fill in there. He has nothing else to prove at AAA and it would be best for all parties to make him available for a post season trade. No MLB GM would get any blow back for acquiring the AAA HR leader.

More or less the same goes for Dunn. He’s at the top of his game this season after being regarded as a MiLB lifer in past years. Being a 2B only doesn’t help his career in the STL organization. He might be a better suited for another MLB team needing INF help next season. At least he is worth a shot. Again he should be seen as an off-season trade chip. I would be one of the first guys to say good luck to both of them.
