Jake Woodford’s rehab has moved to Memphis and he is starting tonight. Good opportunity to impress.

    Woodford looked really good tonight.
    Umps missed a “k”, should have been 4 k’s
    In 2 inngs.
    Get him back up.!!!

Must have been on a pitch count. Exactly 40 in 1 2/3 innings and he was not allowed to finish the second. 22 strikes and 18 balls. Just one hit and one walk.

So Jake is soon to come back from his second shoulder shutdown this season. Glad to hear it.

This may be posted elsewhere but in the “we all saw this coming a mile away” department, Helsey is getting an MRI after renewed tightness in forearm. Wish they would have got the surgery almost 3 months ago. I had a feeling he was going down for the count at some point this season from opening day.

Helsley already had the second MRI and was cleared. He is pitching for Memphis tonight.

Just on this week’s thread, through Sunday, the system is 9-22.

    Yikes.

Another point of reference. For the season, the system is 266-293, .467. That pct. ranks them 22nd of 30 organizations.

Just to reconfirm why the Cards added pitching at the deadline, both Memphis and Springfield have team ERAs for the season that are over 5.00.

Does the 22nd ranking ring a bell? Perhaps there is a connection between talent level and winning games…

Let’s hope the new talent that MLB Pipeline likes so much kicks in pretty soon.

Pipeline didn’t like the talent infusion enough to keep the Cards out of the bottom 10 systems. So, the “likes so much” you cite isn’t really much at all – yet.

    I’m trying to be optimistic.

Anyone know whats going on with Woody? His last 2 inng, outing in Memphis he looked sharp! Now I hear he may be doing another rehab in Springfield..? If he goes more inngs., then I guess he may be ramping up to get some starts or be the long reliever. He is way better than what we have been using..
    Leahy, Rom, Naile, Suarez.. ect.

Certainly they are preparing Woodford for either spot starts or being long relief. and, your right Lee, he had been pitching well just prior to his injury and his last Memphis outing is optimistic.
Hope he gets back up soon.!
