Hi there! My name’s Sean! I’m 30 years old, and I’ve got autism. I live in Lake St. Louis, Missouri with my grandma, and even though I didn’t become a Cardinals fan until 2011 when they won the 2011 World Series against the Rangers (like with David Freese’s walk-off home run in Game 6), and even though I wasn’t born until 1991, but since I like the nostalgia of the 1980’s and 1990’s, and since some of my favorite baseball teams are the 1982 Cardinals, the 1985 Cardinals, and the 1987 Cardinals, and since some of my favorite baseball games are Game 7 of the 1982 World Series between the Cardinals and the Brewers, Game 5 of the 1985 NLCS between the Cardinals and the Dodgers (“Go crazy folks! Go crazy!”), Game 6 of the 1985 NLCS between the Cardinals and the Dodgers, and Game 7 of the 1987 NLCS between the Cardinals and the Giants, with manager Whitey Herzog, and players like Ozzie Smith, Willie McGee, Bruce Sutter, Darrell Porter, Joaquin Andujar, Tommy Herr, Vince Coleman, Terry Pendleton, and Jack Clark, what memories do you have from the 1982 World Series? #ThatsAWinner #JackBuck

Like you, I’m a little too young for the 1982 Series to be a memory (actually it happened just before I was born) but enjoy hearing about those 1980s teams as my uncles and cousins were huge fans and that’s what they told me about growing up. I’m looking forward to hearing your contributions to TCN…keep the great posts coming!
I don’t remember much about the 82 series as I really didn’t become a Cardinal fan or even a baseball fan til after that. I initially became a Cardinals fan because they went against the norm . They were scoring runs without homers. They relied on speed and hitting more than power. And when they did get a Homer… it was special like Smiths blast in Game 5 in the 9th and Clarks 3 run blast to give the Cardinals a 7-5 lead and send them to the World Series. If I put the 2011 team against the 1985 team, the 2011 team wouldn’t stand a chance in my opinion. I am a Cardinals fan for life. Go Cardinals.
1980’s Cardinal baseball was the best. It is what I was raised on. The 1985 Birds is still my favorite team of all time, the Jack Clark homerun in the NLCS is my favorite play of all time, and my favorite Cardinal of all time is Tommy Herr.
Combining the 85 team with the 2021 team, this is how my line up would look.

I loved the 82 series. Back then I listened to most of the games on the radio which in a lot of ways is still the best way to do it. One of my friends who was really a reds fan was pulling for the brewers. I got the last laugh on him. Willie is my favorite memory of that team. One thing people forget is how the Cardinals got to world series. They played the braves in the division series and we’re behind in the first game when it got called off cause of rain. They started over when they played again and dominated the braves if I recall right
For some reason the thing that I remember most clearly is Ted Simmons homering off Bob Forsch in that first game blow out. Also Simmons lining one off Andujar’s knee.
