McGwire is credited with hitting the longest HR ever hit at Busch Memorial Stadium, but a lot of fans claim that his doesn’t count for the same reason that Bond’s 762 career HR’s are placed into the category of highly suspect. Before McGwire came along, the 2 longest HR’s ever hit at Busch Memorial were credited to Willie McCovey and Willie Stargell. I saw both McCovey and Stargell tater up numerous times and when either one of those two annihilated a baseball, it took along a passport for the ride.
