This season and last, Nootbaar has hit lefties so bad he does not even need to be in the lineup, much less the top of the lineup. It is odd because he had a pronounced reverse split in 2022. Donovan is hitting lefties well this year, but that has not always been the case, so it may not continue. To be honest, both Noot and Donovan have not developed as top of the order types as I had hoped. In any event, Winn needs to be a top of the order hitter and we could use another to pair with in atop the lineup.

It is my impression that Winn hits higher in the order against LH’s and lower in the order against RH’s, which is ironic since he has reverse splits. But he also has a much higher batting average hitting lower in the lineup.

Donovan is a career .369 obp in over 1,000 PA’s. He earned that, so it does not get thrown away as if it didn’t happen. He’s still third on the club in obp of active regulars.

If you go to the beginning of this scrum, that was my original point. He’s hitting well and I would probably just leave him alone. That was an IF you move him up, he should be left there without jumping him up and down.
