Not a huge surprise, but I’m glad he helped us a little after causing us so much grief all those years.
I was actually hoping he might return to St. Louis and make some more starts for us. But I guess when it’s time, it’s time.

I always liked and admired Jon Lester. The Cubs put themselves over the top when they brought him in.
He still had something left for us. Wish we could have gone deeper in the post season to see if he could do for us what he did in prior post seasons.
I believe that the Cards were after Lester before he signed with the Cubs? At least that’s my memory, as it’s been said that they were focused enough on him that they didn’t go after Scherzer in that same off-season. It very well may have been the difference between the Cubs having a 113 year and counting winless streak or their celebration in 2016.
If the Hall comes a calling, it’s a toughie as to whether Jon goes in as a Red Sox or a cub. We should really stick it to our arch rivals by giving Lester a couple mil to get enshrined as a Cardinal.
