My thinking is that Marmol is carrying a straight A average on his Mo report card.

Maddon grew up a Cardinal fan and it would likely be a dream come true to pilot the club. But I think the ship has sailed on his opportunity.

But he will likely land a spot somewhere. He has a decent resume, so someone will come calling.

Zero chance the Cardinals would be interested in Maddon.

First, we already have a manager in only his first year.

Second, the Cardinals obviously prefer younger managers who are tied to the organization.

They could hire Maddon for a front office position for a half year contract. Near zero downside risk. And a ton of insurance.

I really don’t see why we need a new manager at all. We are a half game out of first despite zero help from the front office this past postseason.
