Many Said this ser an 85 Wien team. Should End up closer tô 95. Figured out Nootbar and Donovan at the top of the morder. Stock with Dickinson. Hás gotten the max out of Pujols. Most importantly he hás avoided cold hands out of the bullpen. Sermos tô have pushed ali the right button in the second half.
Well far as wins, we will have to wait til end of season to see. But in my mind, he doesn’t deserve any extra credit. I give him credit for pallante if that was his decision to put him on roster. But his usage of Woodford strikes him down there and some questionable pitching decisions. But that’s just my thoughts.
He gets credit when we win and not so much when we lose.
Maybe he’s got the team felt out. Carlson’s usage is showing us something. He’s willing to play the hot bats and put Tyler in CF.
Then again putting Helsley in the 7th still says something. Maybe numbers idk…
Of course Marmol deserves credit. Teams don’t run on autopilot. We are 21 games over .500 and in first place. Not bad for “one of the worst managers we have ever had” as some have opined.
I still maintain that the front office has a lot to do with the w/l record, however, if the manager is going to be blamed for each loss then he should also get credit when things are going well.
Overall, he’s been pretty good.
The major question is his seeming issue with Woodford.
But as you indicated, he is riding the bats while they’re hot, which is a good thing.
Woodford seems strange but how much is Mo and how much is Ollie? And on the other hand you might say that Marmol hás been very good at putting him in situations that he can succeed. Someone’s a step back can result in 2 steps forward
It would seem the issue is with Marmol. We can look at how he used Woodford when Woodford was on the roster.
The demotion to Memphis was Mo – but Marmol had gone weeks without using Woodford at that point.
There clearly seems to be something there.
So the manager is doing good except for his use of one young pitcher that concerns some people? If that is it, it seems like a pretty high score overall.
The club seems loose and they have fun playing the game. I think a lot of that comes from the top, meaning the manager. He goes a long way towards setting the tone of the club on the field.
He is not perfect. It looked like Mikolas was not happy being pulled last night and not getting a shot at getting a couple more outs. The Woodford thing is odd, as has been brought up. But he seems to be getting better at player usage decisions. We are two games under our pythag, which means we have lost some close ones, and that can come down to a managerial move gone wrong. But it is not enough to say he is not going good. Overall I think he has done quite well.
The Cardinal manager has his team at a high water mark of 21 games above sea level and 6 full games atop the NLC, so I afford him an adundance of credit. However, if he were to wait too long to remove the baseball from Hudson’s hand in tonight’s ballgame and the Redbirds lose, all that credit immediately evaporates and I demand he be replaced…Such is the nature of the beast.
