I am in hopes that the new regime will drasticaly renovate our international approach. However, there is also a chance that my assumpions of it’s contribution is in error.
I am sure that some of you are aware that I love to study the numbers. So once again I have created a study of a part of the 30 teams history in signing and developing international prospects.
The data base I have created identifies all international performers who have played the the major leagues during the 2020-2025 seasons who have a collective career WAR of 1.0 WAR. The study excludes players from Puerto Rico and Canada as they are in the draft system.
The data base at this time consists of name, original signing team, year signed, collective WAR for the signing team, WAR for subsequent teams and the amount lost or gained by the original signing team.
The data base can be expanded in a few ways without getting too complicated or overwhelming. You may not be interested but if there is another feature about the international program that you would like to see let me know and I will see if it can be done in a reasonable amount of time.
I will be posting results in the next few days.
