Noot had his best season in 2023 when the team won 71 games, so he might do pretty good this year.

jj-cf-stlParticipantLA,
Noot, Leahy and others who are not highly rated prospects, never lose that lower ranking from posters who rate prospects. You couldn’t sell Leahy to the pen before, unless it was last man in the pen, and now he has no chance at the rotation due to past failures.
We want development, until it conflicts with individual 3 to 5 yr old minors evaluations. So, first sign of a down year, “told ya so”!

jj-cf-stlParticipantBefore the 2025 season, who was better, Donovan or Nootbaar?
8.4 bwar in 1491 PA’s
8.0 bwar in 1379 PA’sDonny had a good 2025 season, Noot had a down season. Not bad for 7th and 8th rounders.

jj-cf-stlParticipantPages and Winn had a better slg% last season than Nootbaar. Why? How?!?!
We can look at Noots’ career best PA’s last season and proclaim him healthy as he has ever been. I’m not in that camp. Something is off. 2026 will answer a lot.
February 8, 2026 at 8:27 am #300483Was Nootbar playing through the heel issues last season or at least a pretty good chunk of it? That could explains the career high PAs with the production dip.
We have so many players with so many questions going into 2026 that it is likely we get all different answers.
Some guys will step up and improve, some guys will take a step back, and some will be flat.
A couple of guys will suffer unfortunate injuries.
It’s this way for every team really it’s just that the good teams are starting with a much higher baseline to work from which will allow for the different win total ceilings and floors.
For me, trying to take it all in, I think the Cardinals ceiling is 81 wins and the floor is 62 wins. So I have given them a 20 win wide window. Other teams probably also have about a 20 win wide window but the numbers will be different of course.
February 8, 2026 at 9:42 am #300486Without Donovan now, I’ve got them around 72-73 wins. Donovan provided so many tangibles and intangibles. But you’re right ZTR – so many young players with so much variance on how well they may perform. That makes the spread on wins/losses much harder to project. I think you have about the right ceiling and floor. I’d maybe go 2 games higher on the ceiling than you did. Call it 62-83 wins with a pretty fair amount of certainty. Almost zero playoff chance. Probably last in their division but the Pirates aren’t any better so it could go either way between them.
February 8, 2026 at 10:53 am #300489Why are you projecting wins? Just let it play out.

ParticipantGameCard….. exactly. I don’t get it. And not interested in those projections. Maybe, if you show all of the divisions or leagues…. all 30 teams.
February 8, 2026 at 1:13 pm #300493Whether a player is a highly rated prospect or not is totally irrelevant to me. All I care about is production.
In the last few years Carlson, Gorman, and Walker were highly rated. Bust, bust, and bust.
Noot and Donovan weren’t highly rated but have out performed expecations.
