I remember when the Cardinals were saying they were going to prioritize defense…let’s see…Fowler, Carpenter and Jose Martinez play while Gyorko and Bader sit…
When I watch Baders D, I’m convinced his web gems are consistently repeatable. That’s his defensive talent level.
He gets such great jumps, and finishes on balls in, that he just as well put his back against the wall. He’ll get to it 🙂
Bader seems to play with a lot of intensity. It’s sort of Tommy Pham-like, perhaps without the gigantic chip on his shoulder. Nonetheless, he’s at least an average player overall it seems and perhaps a little more. It’s nice to have that kind of depth available when someone goes down.
