Happy New Year to all you TCNers. Be healthy, be safe, and may we all have a marvelous baseball season in 2023. (2023??? Can that be true?).

For any who might take an interest in such things, the CiF din-din tomorrow will be: Foie gras, clam chowder. roasted guinea hen and gratin dauphinois, all washed down with a wonderful red Burgundy, and finishing up with a succulent slice of blueberry pie.

I echo CIF’s wishes for a Happy and Safe New Year. If I knew what the heck CIF was having for din-din to ring in the New Year, I would probably say YUM YUM!

I think I just won my last Strat-O-Matic game of 2022. A tough 5-4 win over Arizona at Busch. David Peralta led off the 9th with a pinch-hit double off of Gallegos. But Giovanny settled down and got the last three on a short flyball to CF, a strikeout, and a grounder to DeJong at SS. 5-4 Redbirds the happy final in the last game of the year. 2021 Cardinals now sit 46-34 at just about the halfway point. I was hoping we’d be better but starting pitching has not been very good other than Wainwright.

    See everyone in 2023!

Tomorrow, New Year’s Day did din will be venison stew, made with a healthy amount of local red wine made from Norton grapes grown not far from stately Bling Manor. The deer was harvested not far away either, so it is all sourced close to home.

Tonight, din din is mostly liquid, with charcuterie and antipasti (finger food, but CiF is reading).

Happy and more happy, Redbird fans! Din-din this New Year’s Eve was black-eyed peas with leftover ham from Christmas served up with corn bread muffins and strawberry jam. New Year’s Day din-din will be leftovers of the same…Haha! Stay healthy, stay happy, and stay and play hard until the last out because, youneverknow!

Had my black-eyed peas, collard greens and cornbread for lunch. Put some pork salt on the griddle and drizzled the fat run-off into the greens and then crisped up the pork and diced it into the peas. As I understand it, the peas garner you coins, the greens give ya greenbacks, and the cornbread is to deliver you some gold. Not too sure about that and my stomach kind of sounds like a can rattling around but it was pretty tasty
