If Ollie is not extended during spring training he will probably have until all-star break to either be extended or terminated or reassigned. Yadier Molina, recently added as a special assistant is the obvious 300 pound gorilla in the room but with all the new hires there are others. And Bloom may have outsiders he has identified.
The International guy, Rodriguez has acquired a Bloom selected assistant and the system is loaded with potential major league pitching coaches. Even Flores, who I have considered the best performer has been given a Bloom chosen assistant. Gorillas everywhere.
I don’t see Bloom as a guy who will swoop in and make wholesale changes but I do expect in season changes in leadership.
I am not in favor of keeping Ollie but am willing to see how he changes now that Mo is not around to dictate. I don’t see Bloom as a dictator type.
Ollie makes too many decisions that I don’t consider sound. Use of rookies, even guys making their major league debut out of the bullpen in close game situations. Having high strikeout guys batting third. Slow guys batting 2nd. Speed guys batting 6th and 7th. Seems obsessed with platooning. On more than one occasion he starts a guy, pinch hits for him in the middle of the game because of platooning issues and then late in the game has no flexxibility when confronted with a same side pitcher. Seems to have little sense about player intangibles and momentum. To his credit player seem to like him at least in public.
February 15, 2026 at 10:41 am #300987Sonner, what led you to conclude that the AGMs did not select their own reports, rather than assuming Bloom did it?
It is very early, but I haven’t seen Yadi around yet. I think that if a Marmol extension is coming, it will be during the spring. And it would give it better than 50% odds of happening.

I have always thought Ollie would be the manager to stay through the rebuild then when it was time to win they would bring in someone else. I still think that is likely.

If we going all safari then the other elephant in the room is that from all indications that Bloom and the ownership like Oli. Sure the OP could be right. Broken clock, twice a day.
I agree that an Oli extension is coming at some point and that they want him to oversee the youth in this rebuild.
