Anyone feel there’s an interesting comparison between Moises Gomez and Adolis Garcia? Last season, at AA and AAA Gomez had 39 home runs and 94 RBI. In 5 months. At 23 years old. This season, at AAA, he’s hit 20 home runs and driven in 52 in 78 games.
He strikes out 30% of the time.
Garcia in 5 months at Memphis in 2019 had 32 home runs and 96 RBI. He struck out 30% of the time. Without factoring in defense, it sure looks pretty similar.
Maybe he’d be a good trade chip included in a deal.

They do seem similar. Heck, maybe we just need to bring Gomez up as our DH. Lots of Ks, but lots of power. Then again, is he all that much different than Baker?

Along the lines of DH-types, it seems Yepez’ stock has fallen quite a lot. It looked like he got a lot of help from Pujols last year, and from what I hear he seems a bit lost this year.

The problem is a likely low trade value. The Cardinals couldn’t even get a player for Garcia and I doubt another organization would give much for Gomez, either. Same for Yepez and Burleson, too. If they aren’t good enough to start for the Cardinals, they just aren’t going to be that desirable to other teams, either.

If they won’t play Baker this year, who is a better hitter than Gomez, they wouldn’t play Gomez, either.

Maybe some deadline trades of more proven MLB hitters to fetch pitching will create some roster and playing time opportunity on the offensive side.

I think it is going to hurt more than marginal guys in terms of players lost to get decent pitching in trade, though. Remember that last year it took a Gold Glove CF to get Monty.

Normally I would be in favor of bringing Gomez up and giving him a shot at DH but we already have way too many DH’s. Gorman has to DH until the middle infield is sorted out, Burleson is primarily a DH, Walker should be a DH but I understand the only way he will get better in the OF is playing time, and for some reason our team performs better when Contreras DH’s. Not to mention the fact the Marmol likes to give Goldy and Arenado semi-off days at DH. There just aren’t many DH AB’s to go around but I do agree that it would be nice to know exactly what we have in Gomez before he is given away for nothing like Garcia.

My thought is that other GMs may look at the comparison and put a little more value on Gomez because of how Garcia turned out.

Similar body types in the two – Garcia maybe a bit bigger. Gomez is about five years younger though and you would think someone would give him a shot with 30 DH spots available. Not sure who the Royals use at DH, but they don’t score many runs. Then again they may not have anyone we would want.

I saw Garcia and Yepez standing right next to each other from less than 50 feet away. They have similar body types, not Adolis Garcia. And Yepez is more athletic than Garcia. Garcia is a AAAA player at best. Just the next John Gall.
