Bob Brenly, the Arizona announcer, once said that Goldschmidt usually goes on a tear for about two weeks where you can’t get him out. Other’s have said the same thing.
So, has Goldschmidt gone on his two week tear yet? I don’t recall it so far in 2023.
And if not, when might we expect him to hit that two week stretch where you can’t get him out?
Presently, in my mind, he somewhat looks lost at the plate.

July 29, 2023 at 2:44 pm #229719I think his best stretch of about that long this year was April 25-May 7. 20 of 51, 7 doubles, 5 HR, albeit three in the last game. That’s a pretty good run. But overall, his OPS is down to .839. Very good, but not the .879 to .981 of the previous three years. He’ll be 36 in September and it wouldn’t be surprising if he were beginning to show the signs of aging.
July 29, 2023 at 2:45 pm #229720Goldy’s OPS has dropped every month since April. so I don’t think there has been much of a hot streak yet.
July 29, 2023 at 2:52 pm #229722He is third on the team in avg., first in obp, third in slg, and second in ops., along with his stellar defense, reliability, and low drama. He is still a very good player and the least of our worries.

Yes, but this thread is about whether he has had is annual two week hot streak yet
July 29, 2023 at 3:37 pm #229732He had roughly 4 or 5 weeks in his NL MVP season in which he took on the look of Albert Pujols. In my view, he’s been somewhat neutralized by slotting him at 3 in the order. Another dumb idea was the whiz-kid Cardinal manager placing Gorman at 3 as soon as he showed signs of being the high impact bat that I believe he’ll be and I think the pressure of being placed in the most important slot in the order contributed to his struggles earlier in the season.
July 29, 2023 at 4:39 pm #229740I am more concerned about his overall numbers than whether he has two hot days, two hot weeks, or two hot months. His overall numbers look just fine for someone his age.
