    ugh

soreness is soreness…seems cause for concern to me. Every year he ages the more these little things can be bigger issues.

A concern but hopefully not too big of one. You’d assume it shouldn’t affect his swing much?

it seems that lately…when we hear anything about injuries it tends to be the tip of the iceberg…as if it got to the point they cant hide it from being reported so they have to say something

thejager…. agree…. if Goldschmidt is out for any length of time we will have a hole in the middle of the order that will resemble the Grand Canyon. Even with him there’s a big crater.

    I smell IL.

Unless it affects his swing, would they really IL him? Soreness in the right elbow can mean a lot of things for a position player but 1B is surely the position where it means the least. It doesn’t read like he can’t throw at all, just that he’s limited on “some of his throws.”

if it was soreness in his arm, I wouldn’t worry at all, that is common. soreness in an elbow or a shoulder is a different thing entirely. also the notion that a first baseman doesn’t need a strong arm is ridiculous. sometimes they need to have the ability to throw to third with a strong throw as well as to second on double plays where they aren’t close enough to step on first before throwing.

It is back… or more likely, never completely went away…

This will be the first year of his big contract extension. When will they ever learn. One of the insights here is not to trade Gorman even for another third baseman.

Any injury news is disappointing, but I don’t think one can declare Goldschmidt’s five-year extension a mistake just because of this.

Of course, not…who would think that?

There is no need to over react to every little ache and twinge that we hear about. Shildt is quoted as saying “everything is fine, just being proactive” and Goldy said “It is fine, nothing out of the norm. I could have played today.”

I know the Cardinals have a bit of history of with misdiagnosing or miscommunicating injuries but this doesn’t sound to me like it will fall into that category.
