Considering what is coming off the books, Pederson would be preferable to me. He is 3 years younger and, IMO, a better hitter.

Albert’s big bat was a key to the team’s success and it will not be back. Mo may on the lookout.

I don’t think we sign a free-agent outfielder…I think it is more likely we sign a utility infielder to take DeJong’s spot for a year.

Bling…Without Pujols the Cardinals may have only played 162 games. It seemed like all his second half hits and HR’s were game changers.

I don’t bring in an outfielder from outside the organization if it’s my decision. Plenty of depth and potential with what we will bring back. Probably make Yepez the primary DH. Walker might get in to the mix in May depending on who is or is not producing.

Looks like Benintendi would be a great leadoff guy and Pederson is the power choice.

I would much rather have Pederson than Dickerson. I have said this before and I am not kidding but take a deeper dive into Dickerson’s numbers and you will find that a huge majority of his hits this year came from Wrigley Field.

His line at Wrigley was .684/.684/1.263/1.947. He pretty much stunk everywhere else. His line at Busch was .220/.248/.307/.555.

We are almost infamous about signing a guy one year too late anymore. I’d be really hesitant to sign Pederson after his good year.

St. Louis will sign no outfielders.

St. Louis will sign no catcher unless it’s Contreras. And that is a long shot.

St. Louis will make no trades.

St. Louis only questions going into spring training 2023 is who will make the trip north.

Mo will make some moves over the winter. They may be minor ones, like ST invitees on a minor league deal. He loves to bargain hunt.

It will all depend on the club’s internal evaluation of the assets they control up and down the system including when they project the minor league talent to arrive in StL.

I think the common consensus is that they need to go get a starting catcher, a front line starting pitcher, and a left handed power bat in the outfield?

Pass on Dickerson, who had 297 PA’s last season. I’d rather see farmhands like Burleson, DeLuzio, etc. get those PA’s, and see where we stand in the outfield by the deadline.

Agreed, we have plenty of left handed bats now, which is why he was brought in to begin with. But we could use one whose bat is middle of the order capable. The lefties and switch hitters we have are not that at this point. Carlson, Gorman and Burleson are possibilities at some point, if they prove able to do what they have so far not done.

This is an issue that the arrival of Walker and Winn will not solve.

The “proving” part for these players will require mlb PA’s, which is my point.

Gorman can start 162 games at 2B, for me. He is our best shot at a LH middle order bat. If he plays himself off the roster that’s on him, but we won’t know unless he / they get the PA’s.

The question may be, coming out of the chute – who will be the best bat in the DH hole? – Gorman or Burleson?
