ParticipantGreat article in the Post Dispatch this morning on the relationship between the Cardinals and the Rockies, going back to Walt Jocketty. It’s titled “Mining for Talent: Cards have often gone to Rockies for Help.” Also features Mo’s background in Colorado.
Maybe Brian or a tech savvy poster could copy and paste the article. Lots of things in there that are excellent for discussion.
February 1, 2021 at 9:45 am #153027Need a good discussion to distract me today after my house was broken into early this morning. That was a very good article and talked about the Cardinals have gotten a lot of talent from Colorado without having to give up much.

stlcard25ParticipantAlso, it’s been a doozy of a year for you BHC. Hopefully you are doing ok and things get taken care of on the legal end soon.
February 1, 2021 at 10:02 am #153035Me and the wife barricaded ourselves in the bedroom as they breaking out the living room and mudroom windows. It was a pretty terrifying experience.

ParticipantSeveral interesting points to discuss are –
1.) The path already taken. How it’s sometimes easier to get deals done with teams you’ve completed deals with in the past.
Might have to do with trust and fairness.
Discusses other teams Cards have been comfortable going back to.2.) How Walt and Mo know about the effects of mile high playing, and can feel comfortable that some players will still excel away from that environment. Guys like Kile, Walker, Holliday, etc. Good thoughts for Arenado.

ParticipantThanks for posting the link, 25. Another aspect of the article is the highlighting of the organizations that Mo has had the most success trading with. Makes you want scan their rosters and look for pre-arbitration, arbitration, and gifted minor leaguers who might be good targets.
