This is what the back of the white jerseys look like with the new template. Players are pretty unhappy. Miles Mikolas says they also don’t fit right; pants are no longer as customized, and the fabric is a very different consistency.

Yeah I saw a video on Youtube the other night about how Dodger fans are up in arms because the new uniforms display their logo on the front of the jersey in a slightly different manner. The video referenced Nike as the culprit though.

I think it’s a joint venture with Nike outsourcing the actual material production. It’s a great combo, though. You get the Nike swoosh — with Fanatics quality. LOL.
Maybe they decided to make the uniforms look cheap so that players would be more likely to get them dirty? At any rate, teams don’t seem to have what I would term an everyday home white or road grey uniform anymore. They have entire wardrobes that contain what sometimes seem to be countless mix and match possibilities. In any event, once the Cardinals caved to the concept of an “alternate jersey” in 2013, the proverbial whiz-kids came up with the inane idea of placing “St. Louis” on the front of the jersey when the team was playing at home…Haha! I guess they thought if a fan were so stupid as to submit to being gouged for the price of admission along with a $20 hot dog and Coca Cola, that he was also probably too dumb to know what town he was in…

That was a Bill DeWitt III special. (They are likely playing to the casual fan = jersey buyer, not traditionalists.)
Will have to see more of them, but I am sure they are cheaper as the quest is never ending for revenue increases and cost decreases. That is a natural evolution, whether it be our own family budget or big corporate entities, but there comes a point where intangibles are as important or moreso than dollars.
Excellent observation, Bikemike. It’s been my experience that the overall presence of quality craftsmanship has taken a steep nose dive in almost all areas of consumer goods in recent years. Nearly everything is poor quality, cheap, throwaway junk, and almost nothing is even worth the effort to repair or refurbish. My theory for the reason for this is that quality craftsmen are practically nonexistent in today’s world. The human hand almost never produces anything anymore and when it does, the product isn’t affordable for the vast majority of people. Genuine man made art is rapidly disappearing.
I’ve got a great idea for saving money. Have just two uniforms, one white and one gray, and everything else the same.

The names are smaller but what about the birds on the bat? The birds were made larger a couple yers ago I think.
I also wonder if the new pants will allow for players to have both ankle length and bloused at the knee versions. Some guys wear one or the other, and some guys use both.
