Some of the Cardinals broadcasters say some truly weird things. People have noted on here that they either appreciate guys like Mike Shannon or can’t stand to listen to them. Tim McCarver would fall into that same boat…people either take him or hate him. Someone on twitter captured this doozy from McCarver and I don’t want to speculate on anyone’s health but wow!
Just give it a listen.
One of the stranger things I've heard McCarver say. pic.twitter.com/fGF47kPpHs

April 9, 2019 at 12:25 pm #86600it all made sense to me…not revelatory but not as incoherent asi have heard him in other times, and at least it was on point about what was happening in the game at the time
my partner is a Reds fan from birth and she cant stand her broadcasters nowadays (she still loves Nuxhall the same way i do Buck), even when the Cards are playing the Reds she prefers our broadcasters over hers. When we are watching both games playing other teams she prefers to listen to the Cards broadcast of the game and to just watch hers (even if i still switch over depending on the situation)
I am still not sold entirely on Brad Thompson, Edmonds and Ankiel…but i think there is something there to build on
I wish we had KCs Hudler to be honest…i like his enthusiasm

Even the direct contradiction? I mean, he basically said that Hicks has to go with the pitch that feels right… as long as it is the fastball.
Much like an old Henry Ford quote about his customers being able to have any color car they want, as long as it is black.
The difference is that Henry Ford was joking.
April 9, 2019 at 1:08 pm #86602The pin drop silence from Danny Mac, I thought, was pretty telling. He just ignored it and moved on.

Chris Welsh and Thom Brennaman are excellent announcers. Far better than what we have, except Danny Mac.
I do agree, thejager, that next to Joe Morgan its obvious that Jeff Brantley is about the worst announcer in the history of baseball. I can absolutely understand muting him.
April 9, 2019 at 2:06 pm #86608I miss Bob Carpenter actually.
April 9, 2019 at 2:10 pm #86610Bob Carpenter? And that SEE……..YOU……LATER call of his?
He’s another one to mute.
