So Joshua Baez three homeruns ranks in there somewhere. Make this fun, not a debate. The last piece of awesomeness I recall is AP’S 699th AND 700th hr on September 22 2022. Go.
Here’s an example of how this games played. This is in honor of esteemed poster One Tough Dominican. I was at this game. It was definitely Cardinals Awesomeness!

For me that and Jordan Walker’s derby exploits are the highlights of the season.
The Pujols 700th was incredible. Probably the all timer for me has been the Freese exploits in game six 2011.
Wrigley has seen some moments. Some on here have dissed it, but when I was there it was kind of surreal to watch and think that you are looking at the same spot where the Babe “called his shot”, and all those great players stood like The Rajah, Stan’s 3000th, Albert cracking three, Hank and Willie, Ernie, etc.
Wainwright and Molina getting the record for number of starts as battery mates was a fun honor for both.
And of course Coleman setting the Rookie record mark for steals was incredible.

Not a record, but I had a lot of fun watching both Albert and Yadi each take a turn at pitching. And watching Pages play 2B, was hilarious.
1. David Feese game six 2011 World Series. Left for dead only to rise again and again.
2. Ozzie Smith go crazy folks.
3. Jack Clark game six LA. The “SOB” smoked it.
4. Pujols homer in Houston. That damn thing still hasn’t landed.
5. Willie McGee two homer game in Milwaukee.
6. Chris Carpenter beating Philadelphia and Roy Holliday in a pitching duel for the ages.
7 and 7a. Terry Pendleton’s clutch ninth-inning, two-run blast on September 11, 1987, at Shea Stadium, and Tommy Herr’s iconic 10th-inning walk-off grand slam on April 18, 1987, known as “Seat Cushion Night”.
8. Yadi’s homerun against the Mets game 7 2006.
9. Pujols three homeruns in game three 2011 World Series against the Rangers.
10. Baez three homerun MLB debut.
11. Mark Whiten against the Reds. Whiten hit 4 home runs and drove in 12 RBIs, leading the Cardinals to a 15–2 victory. He tied the all-time MLB single-game RBI record previously set by fellow Cardinals player Jim Bottomley in 1924.
12. Jim Edmonds walkoff homerun to win game six NLCS and force game seven.
13. Adam Wainwright Freezes Carlos Beltrán to end the 2006 NLCS Game 7.
14. Lou Brock sets stole base record.
15. Bob Gibson’s record-shattering 17-strikeout game in the 1968 World Series.
16. Bob Forsch (1978 & 1983): The only pitcher in franchise history to throw two no-hitters for St. Louis, blanking the Philadelphia Phillies on April 16, 1978, and the Montreal Expos on September 26, 1983.
I could go on and on.
That’s a great walk thru Cardinals greatness Texas Cards. I was there watching or listening to every one of those. Interesting I was listening to the go crazy game and I can remember it vividly. I was working late at work off of Page Ave. All the cars started honking.
That is a great list. A couple more for me early on. Sitting out on the playground in 6th grade where the teacher had the 1964 World Series on the radio, and a bunch of us kids were gathered around listening. The Yankees tied game five in the ninth, and we go to the 10th. Tim McCarver hits a three run homer to put us up 5-2, which we won by that score.
And Ken Boyer’s grand slam the game before, pulling us out of a 2 games to 1 deficit and trailing 3-0 in game four, where it was looking like the series might be over before we knew it.
That Pujols homer against Houston was something. Too bad that did not propel us to the series win. I remember reading where the Astros players were teasing Brad Lidge saying things on the flight to St. Louis like, “Hey, there’s that ball Pujols hit.” 🙂
And the Jack Clark homer. Man, some great moments.
As was proven today, trying to guess who and when the next example of awesomeness will occur is impossible.
Thanks folks. I’m mad at myself for not getting Stan the man Musial in there. I’ll see what I can do about that.

What a beautiful picture Bling.
I was at the game Mark McGuire hit his 62nd home run with my son. I remember being a lot less interested in what at the time I considered a sideshow and distraction. But the kids loved it.It reminds me of the Pujols 3HR game at Wrigley in 2004. I saw that one in person but I think this has to top it since it was his debut.
That game felt like the inevitable comeback for the Cards. Pujols was unstoppable that day.

Matt Carpenter’s 3HR, 2 double game at Wrigley. I feel it was a mistake to not let him try for a 4th dinger that game though. Probably one of the more underrated dominant games and stretches in Cardinals history.
McGwire’s 62nd. Maybe tainted, but for this then-15 year old I was racing home from work and hoping to have a chance to see it on TV (which I did). The whole chase was riveting.
Oscar Taveras’ debut and HR. Bittersweet, to be sure.
Jose Jimenez and his no hitter against the Big Unit in 1999. Possibly the most unlikely no no imaginable and to outduel one of the all time greats is pretty cool. Side nod to the Bud Smith no hitter.
Waino striking out Brandon Inge to seal the Series in 2006 ranks way up there for me in the personal exuberance rankings. That was peak Cardinals fandom for me and I followed the 2004-2006 teams pitch by pitch through most of the season. Since they hadn’t won a title in my lifetime (I was born slightly after the 1982 championship concluded), I was especially eager. When they clinched it, I jumped so high that I almost hit my head on the ceiling. It was a weird year with the aging legends and injuries but it made up for the frustration of the 2004 and 2005 teams (and 2000-2002 teams) coming up short.
