Like the Gold Gloves, the top three finishers in the various award balloting are being pre-announced. For NL Rookie of the Year, finalists Paul DeJong and Josh Ball are going to lose out to Cody Bellinger.
Update: No Cardinals were named as finalists for MVP, Cy Young Award and Manager of the Year. No surprises there.
November 6, 2017 at 8:02 pm #37349It has been a long time. The Cards’ only NL Rookie of the Year in the last 30 years was Albert Pujols in 2001.
November 7, 2017 at 10:35 am #37393DeJong also named the shortstop on the Topps All-Rookie Team.

November 8, 2017 at 8:44 pm #37512Not BBWAA awards, but Mike Moustakas and Ryan Zimmerman are the AL and NL Comeback Players of the Year, coming from the Players’ Association.
November 9, 2017 at 8:20 pm #37556Again, not a BBWAA award, but Adam Wainwright won the NL Silver Slugger award for pitchers. Per the Cardinals:
Wainwright, 36, co-led Major League pitchers in RBI (11, Carlos Martinez) and runs scored (7, Zach Davies). He also ranked 1st in batting average (.262) and slugging (.452). He leads active Major League pitchers in career hits (127), RBI (68), doubles (34), and extra base hits (46).
November 9, 2017 at 10:02 pm #37559He had a better batting average than several of our position players.
November 13, 2017 at 7:41 pm #37742Bellinger and Judge are the Rookies of the Year. DeJong came in second in the NL, receiving 15 of 30 2nd-place votes, including columnist Benjamin Hochman of the P-D. He was third according to 11 voters, including P-D columnist Jose de Jesus Ortiz, and left off four ballots.
November 14, 2017 at 10:14 pm #37796Managers of the Year: Paul Molitor and Torey Lovullo.
November 15, 2017 at 7:21 pm #37874Corey Kluber and Max Scherzer are the Cy Young Award winners. Both have St. Louis connections. Kluber was a part of the three-team Jake Westbrook trade and Scherzer was a native free agent the Cards passed on.
November 16, 2017 at 6:26 pm #37921Stanton wins NL MVP by just two points over Votto. Interesting and very different votes from StL. Goold had Stanton first; Hummel had him fifth (and Votto fourth) with Blackmon on top. Hummel was one of only two voters to leave Bryant out of his top 10.
Tommy Pham came in 11th overall. His top individual vote was seventh (not from StL).
November 16, 2017 at 7:09 pm #37923Jose Altuve is the AL MVP.
