He was truly a one-eyed troll. I do not know why the umpires labor union chose to protect someone so inept for so many years.

Almost everything else is reviewable so that takes care of pretty much everything else. Too bad challenges were not around in 1985. I’m looking at you Denkinger – cost us the WS in game 6.
Supposedly Hernandez is a good guy – worked hard to get where he was. Statistically he was a bad umpire, but there were worse. Still he was in the bottom third.
Hopefully whoever replaces him will raise the bar a little.
