Bowman is Seth Maness-lite. I would take Brebbia all day over him, plus some others at Memphis.
May 6, 2018 at 4:01 pm #51226I don’t understand why Maness gets a bad rap. If he is guilty of anything, it was overuse.
In terms of his stats, three of his four years with StL were quite a bit above average.

Personally, I have nothing against Brebbia or Bowman. Before it is done, the Cards are going to need them all and perhaps more. The manager seems to use the guys he prefers more frequently.
May 6, 2018 at 4:03 pm #51227I think every bullpen pitcher with an option gets a chance for ribs in Memphis this year — Hicks, Bowman included. This will be for rest, for self-discovery, whatever. If the results aren’t there or you’re gassed, you’re going to Memphis. You’re alternative ia the DL. And so there is 12-man bullpen now.
I think Weaver will get a trip to Memphis too, at some point — unless he’s practically perfect in every way.
I
want to see what happens tonight with a late lead. Holland? That’s politically correct. Gregorson? That’s my guess. Hicks? Back-to-back and balanced for disaster at any moment. Tuivalala? That would take some nerveMay 6, 2018 at 4:29 pm #51229I don’t know about “all of the wrong moves”, but I’ll tell you what the right move would be. Coming on the heels of Wong’s walkoff, I don’t expect any sympathy for my frustration in not getting this spark plug up where he belongs…with the big club. Max Schrock. Remember Fernando Vina’s finest 3 years with our Cards? Well, Schrock will even better Fernando’s feats as a Bird. I want Schrock up here as quick as possible!
May 6, 2018 at 6:08 pm #51239If you need some outs against a lower level opponent or a double play induced against the 7th and 8th hitter in the order than Bowman is your man and no i’m not going on baseball reference to check if i’m right or wrong.
Sometimes I feel everyone has forgotten that he’s no longer a rule 5 guy and is afraid he’ll get claimed. Lol
May 7, 2018 at 9:14 am #51333Well Bowman has been overused the last two years also so it is likely he will burn out like Maness and Siegrist. He is already showing signs of it.
The only rationale I could see to have him on the team is that he gives the opposition a little different look since he isn’t a flamethrower like some of the other relievers we have. The problem is he isn’t fooling any of the hitters. He has options and should be in Memphis in my opinion.
