The Cardinals still are thought to be in the running for free agent righthander Addison Reed, who has had closer’s experience but has been mostly a setup man in his career. Reed was believed to be close to a deal with Philadelphia but that didn’t materialize and the Phillies signed Pat Neshek and Tommy Hudson.

Reed would add some credibility to the bullpen.

I’s rather have Wade Davis but Reed would be cheaper and he is still a quality reliever. If we paired him up with Reyes that could be effective.
