Tuesday’s action:
Mem vs. Louisville (CIN), LHP Alex Cornwell (1-1, 10.24) vs. RHP Chase Petty (0-2, 3.52) 6:45 PM CT.
Spr vs. NW Arkansas (KC). LHP Ixan Henderson (2-0, 1.76) vs. RHP Ethan Bosacker (1-2, 5.57) 11:15 AM CT.
Peo vs. Beloit (MIA). RHP Gerardo Salas (0-2, 7.36) vs. TBA. 11:05 AM CT.
PB vs. St. Lucie (NYM). RHP Jason Savacool (1-1, 1.89) vs. TBA. 5:30 PM CT.
April 29, 2025 at 8:58 pm #280683The Memphis rotation looked so promising and now it looks so bad. Cornwell demolished again tonight and continuing to increase the number of his walks over his strikeouts. Maybe Curtis Taylor will continue to pitch well in the rotation, but him being in the rotation isn’t desirable either.
At least in Palm Beach Savacool had another good outing has been doing well on the year.

May 1, 2025 at 9:07 am #280800Herrera should be Memphis’ DH today in his first rehab game.
May 2, 2025 at 9:48 am #280869The #stlcards system was 1-2 on Thursday. May 2, 2025 at 7:45 pm #280904Herrera 2 for 3 today and played C so the rehab assignment is going well so far. Hoping to see him back after this weekend.
If they use Munoz this weekend and he doesn’t do well, I’m DFA’ing him for Granillo who had 3Ks in 2 innings. Granillo has been pitching very well and with his command improvements, I don’t think he has anything left to prove in AAA.
May 3, 2025 at 7:11 am #280957The #STLCards system was 2-4 on Friday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Memphis RF Matt Koperniak, was 2-for-4 including a home run with two RBI and two runs scored. Other standouts include Matt Lloyd, Hancel Rincon and Brandt Thompson. https://t.co/8USBO1z0v5 pic.twitter.com/xwn8SS1C44

May 3, 2025 at 7:20 am #280958Bring up Koperniak and send Burleson out.
May 3, 2025 at 7:51 am #280960Be careful for what you ask for. Koperniak has a .209 average for Memphis. Burleson is hitting .256 for St. Louis.
In terms of OPS, Kop is .567 against lesser pitching. Burly is .595.
To me, neither is the current answer.
May 3, 2025 at 8:01 am #280963Yea I didn’t really think that one over to carefully. Just frustrated with the dh situation. Burly isn’t the answer. He needs to put 100 points on his obp and 200 on his ops to make him viable.
May 3, 2025 at 9:52 am #280971
stlcard25ParticipantIt’s very strange. Koperniak must be putting up a lot of donuts because most days that I check in, he seems to have at least one extra base hit or gets mention as having a good day. I still don’t think he’d be any worse than Burleson.
May 3, 2025 at 10:01 am #280976FCL starting today feels weird. I wonder if at some point they may extend the season or add a draft specific league since the drafted players don’t really have a chance for game action.
May 3, 2025 at 10:03 am #280977Koperniak really struggled last month overall. Even his walk rate dropped significantly. I would not call him up at this point and would let him work things out in AAA and see if sometime this summer if he can get some PAs
May 3, 2025 at 10:04 am #280978Bryan Torres is putting up pretty good numbers. He doesn’t have much power though.
He seems to be a Donovan type, but I haven’t seen enough defense to judge though I don’t get the impression he is gold glove caliber.
I need to watch more Memphis games. I have plenty of time now.
May 3, 2025 at 10:12 am #280979I am feeling good about being the lone TCN member to select Osvaldo Berrios in my top 50 Cards prospects. I had him at 43. He has started the year very well with a 29.8% K rate and 5.3% BB rate. Probably not an impact RP, but at least someone who can be a long reliever / middle relief type role in the majors.
May 3, 2025 at 10:18 am #280980Marilyn, Torres is someone I also like and I also had in my top 50 at 45 so I am glad to see someone else likes him. I would have him higher today as he has shown even at AAA he can put up numbers. I can see the comps to Donovan for Torres, but more of Donovan in his 1st year. Torres doesn’t have power, but has incredible plate discpline. I haven’t seen Torres play defense, but I’m guessing based off his speed he is a better defender in the OF than Donovan. Unsure on Torres infield defense, but hoping it is adequate. Interesting the only position Torres hasn’t played in his minors career is SS, but he has played over 500 innings at C.
I think Torres could be that devil magic candidate from the Cards that comes out of no where and is a viable MLB player. Most likely not a starter, but a valuable super util role.
May 3, 2025 at 10:28 am #280984Torres is good at defense. Certainly better than Donovan in the OF because of his speed. It’s probably a toss-up at 2B. I also had Torres in my Top 50 when we posted our lists at the end of last season. Such a good hitter. But yes, literally no power. Donovan probably isn’t a good comparison. Maybe Greg Garcia? That seems better to me.
May 3, 2025 at 10:32 am #280988Jnevel, I agree with that. Garcia is a better comp, but with a little extra positional flexibility for Torres. I would be quite happy with a Greg Garcia career out of a independent ball FA signing of Torres.
May 4, 2025 at 6:19 am #281029The #STLCards system was 3-2 on Saturday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Memphis 1B Matt Lloyd, was a perfect 3-for-3, including a home run and a walk. Other standouts: Brody Moore, Mike Antico, Cade McGee, Michael Watson and Paulo Asprilla. https://t.co/E1Pekoe3ga pic.twitter.com/Tiqxnf67Cc

May 4, 2025 at 8:07 pm #281138Cornwell with another dud of a start. Absolutely no depth at this point beyond Graceffo with McGreevy up, Hence, Mathews, and Robberse out.
May 5, 2025 at 7:30 am #281161The #STLCards system was 1-3 on Sunday. For the 2nd time in 3 days, The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day is Springfield OF Nathan Church, who doubled, homered and drove in three. Other standouts: Jason Savacool, Matt Lloyd, Ryan Campos and Nick Raquet. https://t.co/d8dX5NyMEH pic.twitter.com/JEqQYeqyOH
