August 28, 2025 at 7:27 pm #291507Baez with a double down the line tonight.
Honeyman got hit in the head with a fastball. Stayed in the game.

stlcard25ParticipantThat’s Jesus Baez with the double.
Chen-Wei Lin’s Springfield debut couldn’t have gone much worse. Started off with a K, then a double, three straight walks and was yanked from the game after 32 pitches. Two of his inherited runners scored to give him a fat 81.00 ERA after his first start. Not great.
August 28, 2025 at 8:42 pm #291512Well, he gave them 3 free bases and they accepted the gift. I think it was T. Williams who said that a hitter’s impatience is the primary advantage that a pitcher has. Sounds like someone needs to impart that wisdom to this Lin kid.
August 28, 2025 at 9:15 pm #291514If they had consulted someone who knows how real life baseball works, they would have known that a pitcher walking 6.8 per 9 in the Midwest League is not going to be successful in AA.

stlcard25ParticipantWon-Bin Cho has quietly put together a pretty good run at Peoria following a horrible start to his year there. Since June 1, he’s got a .272/.373/.415 line, good for a 126 wRC+. The power has even come on a bit with 5 HRs and a .487 SLG in August (albeit with his worst K/BB ratio of the last three months). He takes walks (12.8% BB rate) and mostly doesn’t strike out a ton this year (24.2% K rate). He’s 22 now but this is technically his age 21 season. I had sort of forgotten about him, but he’s back on my radar in the OF as he should be in the upper minors next year. Given the issues at Peoria, I’m excited to see what he can do in Springfield with their coaching and hitting environment.

September 1, 2025 at 7:47 am #291669Jonathan Michael Gazdar…..aka Jon Jon Mike Mike Gazdar. What our Cardinals need is a scrappy versatile player whom instinctively takes one for the team at the drop of a hat……or in this case, at any pitch that drifts even slightly inside. Getting plunked 20 times in 89 games is entering Ron Hunt territory. And that’s exactly what Jon Jon accomplished this season in Peoria. Ron Hunt getting hit by a pitch 50 times in 1971 and Joe DiMaggio’s 56 game hit streak are two records I’ve always considered to be untouchable. But Jon Jon has me thinking that maybe just maybe Mr. Hunt’s record isn’t as safe as I’ve always considered it to be.
