I wish the Peoria game had full game cast data to see what type of pitch mix Matthews has tonight. Palm Beach did have it tonight and Chen-Wei Lin was most 4 seamers the first time through. Luken Baker getting hot lately. He just hit his 2nd homer of the night for 11 on the season.
A guy quietly having a nice year is Granillo at Springfield. His intro to the upper levels was kind of lumpy last year, but he seems to have smoothed it out, at least in AA. Guys carrying a pretty high walk rate through A level ball usually have trouble as they advance and face ever more advanced hitters with better discipline, so we will have to see how things go when he gets his second chance at AAA. My fear is he could run into what Cabrera did in MLB and batters will learn to just wait out the hot arm, let him get himself behind in the count and have to lay it in there.

bling, I have been keeping my eye on Granillo as well. I saw him in person a week ago and he looked lights out. He might save BDW some money in the bullpen in the next year or two.
gscottar, he may be lights out, but his BB/9 is 4.9, and that is in AA. It just gets harder from there, as he found out moving up to AAA last year. Just for perspective, nobody presently on the STL pitching staff has a BB/9 above 4.

I guess they are highlighting positive trends.
Hopefully both those guys figure it out sooner rather than later.
I am glad they are both getting a chance to learn how to how to hit vs. AAA pitching. Hitting involves more than being able to launch Texas League fastballs.

Yet his WHIP is 0.98 with an avg against of .129 and ERA of 1.47. All of those stats are outstanding.
