I thought that since we’re only guaranteed 4 more games of Big League baseball action this season it’d be fun to make believe we’re all gypsy fortune tellers and can see into the future isofar as 3 categories related to this season’s World Series. I don’t want to get too fancy, so I’ll keep the 3 categories simple and they’re as follows…1. Which team takes home the championship? 2. How many games? 3. Who is named WS MVP? My choices are as follows…
1. Although I’m a NL guy and I’ll be rooting for the Phillies, Houston wins this WS. This Astros team is the best best ballclub I can recall in a WS since the Yankees of the late 90’s to the early 2000’s. I can’t see a weakness other than the field manager…
2. I’d like to look real smart and say the Astros will sweep in the minimum 4 games, but I’ll play it safe and say Houston in 5 games.
3. I’m going with Jose Altuve for WS MVP. He’s 3 for 32 thus far in the ’22 post-season. He’s too good of a hitter for that to continue. It wouldn’t surprise me if he breaks through and hits .600 for a week or so…
GO PHILLIES…Haha!
October 28, 2022 at 3:17 pm #205624I doubt I will watch much of the series. I hope Houston loses. I live between Philly and NYC so I hope for my friends that are Phillies fan that Houston loses.

stlcard25Participant1. The Phillies win. Being a PA guy, I must go with them. I also can’t stand Houston.
2. 7 games, a real barn burner.
3. Aaron Nola wins MVP, because players I covet for the Cards always go on an insane streak to put my dreams completely out of reach.
October 28, 2022 at 3:23 pm #205626Oliver…Yeah, I’ll be pulling for Philly and hope it goes the full 7 just so it’s fun to watch, but c’mon Oliver, I know you have a crystal ball…Who’s your picks?…Haha!
October 28, 2022 at 3:27 pm #205627stlcard25…I’ll say this, if you are indeed correct and the Phillies upend the mighty Astros, I will personally proclaim you the proverbial baseball genius…Haha! I’ll also say, I hope you’re right!
October 28, 2022 at 3:31 pm #205628I really wanted the Cardinals to sign Harper…I was in the minority on that. So my pick is the Phillies in 6. But I am still hoping Houston loses.
October 28, 2022 at 3:38 pm #205629The Phillies seem to be this year’s playoff team of destiny so it wouldn’t surprise me to see them win in 6.
I don’t really care for either team so I will just be glad for the series to get over with so we can get onto the business of the offseason. Once the Cardinals are eliminated I turn my attention to the offseason with the potential signings/trades/non-tenders/etc….
October 28, 2022 at 3:39 pm #205630Oliver…Harper’s no joke. If the Phillies have one advantage, I honestly believe it’s because, in my view, they have the best player in Byruce Harper in this year’s WS. He’s an extremely tough competitor and could very well take on the persona of Godzilla smashing through downtown Tokyo in this WS. If he does, the Phillies have a decent chance.
October 28, 2022 at 3:42 pm #205631gscottar…I appreciate you going out on a limb and picking the Phillies, but please…I wish you’d stop wishing for the season to be over…Haha! I mean, what the heck else will I have to do other than fight off the leaves and shovel snow?

ParticipantAstros in 6.
October 28, 2022 at 4:25 pm #205634bccran…That’s probably the safest bet. The Phillies will most likely steal 2 games in the late innings as Astros players have to quickly leave the field in order come to the aid of their field manager to extract a toothpick from his windpipe…Haha! Poor Dusty…
October 28, 2022 at 6:13 pm #205638Because this Phillies club remind me of our 2006 bunch, and like in ‘06 the NL team was a big underdog, I am going to stick with the same mantra.
Phillies in 5, and Stott is the MVP (I think Eckstein was in ‘06 if memory serves, so will go with their shortstop).
October 28, 2022 at 6:19 pm #205639BikeMike…Whoa! Phillies in 5? You really are the gypsy king with the crystal ball…Haha! And yes, the diminutive David “The Gnat” Eckstein was the ’06 WS MVP. That’s fitting in the sense that if the Phillies pull off the upset, it will certainly be a genuine case of David slaying Goliath…

I despise the AstrosOctober 28, 2022 at 6:31 pm #205642GameCard…You don’t like the Astros? I must have made a mistake. I was under the impression that you thought Eddie’s game would benefit from the tutelage of old Dusty…Haha!
October 29, 2022 at 3:25 pm #205677gscottar…I appreciate you going out on a limb and picking the Phillies, but please…I wish you’d stop wishing for the season to be over…Haha! I mean, what the heck else will I have to do other than fight off the leaves and shovel snow?
To me the season is never over. I enjoy the business side of baseball almost as much as the games. The free agency, the trades, the winter meetings, the building of next year’s team, etc…. all of that can be very interesting.
October 29, 2022 at 4:01 pm #205682gscottar…Oh, I agree. I was just funnin’ around, but honestly, I don’t follow the business side of the game or the minor league affiliates as close as do a lot of others. I obviously enjoy the action of Big League baseball and I’m a bit backwards in the sense that I’m fascinated with the rich past history associated with the game. Big League baseball and the American Civil War are by and large my two primary interests insofar as my self-proclaimed title of layman historian….Haha! At any rate, I’m certainly looking forward to the off-season if it happens to bring some exciting surprises. I mean, I sure didn’t see Arenado coming last year, so who knows, right? In the mean time, I’m looking forward to watching tonight’s WS game. It was a good one last night…Go Phillies…Haha!
