De los SantosFebruary 2, 2021 at 6:53 am #153174My thoughts for Outfielders entering affiliated ball in 2021:
Memphis ~ Capel, Dean, Thomas, Williams, Toerner
Springfield ~ Hurst, Nootbaar, Pinder, Denton
Peoria ~ Cedeno, Plummer, Reichenborn, Vinsky, Machado
Palm Beach ~ Burleson, Fletcher, Fuller, Jew, Jones
GCL ~ Chamberlain, Koperniak, Garcia, Torres, RomeriFebruary 2, 2021 at 7:09 am #153178If Torres is not ready for full season ball this year, then I think we all need to give up on the idea of him ever making an impact for us. I’d think Romeri would be in Palm Beach as well.

Participant2020 – if you have Dean, Thomas, and Williams in Memphis, who’s your 5th outfielder on the big club?
February 2, 2021 at 9:23 am #15320025- you are correct about Torres. At a minimum he needs to start the season in Palm Beach and maybe Peoria.

Participant25- you’re right about Torres and Romeri.
There will be some thinning of the herd by season’s start.
February 4, 2021 at 2:29 am #153346I think it’s STL or bust for Williams so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt with no options remaining I believe.
STL Fowler/Bader/Carlson/O’Neill/Williams
MEM Nootbar/Thomas/Capel/Dean/Toerner
SPR Yepez/Pinder/Hurst/Denton/Plummer (I think more of a make or break move)
PEO Vinsky/Reichenborn/Burleson/Machado/Cedeno
PB Fuller/Torres/Jones/Jew/Fletcher/Romeri (the last two might go back down once short season starts)
GCL Chamberlain/Koperniak/Moquette/Cruz/DeLosSantos/G.A. RodriguezMight need to look at College OF in the 1st 3 rounds this year.
February 4, 2021 at 10:07 am #153380The fifth OF spot could be the most hotly contested spot in camp. As of now, assuming Yadi returns, the starting eight would be Molina, Goldy, Edman, Arenado, DeJong, Carlson, Bader, and Fowler.
The bench would be Knizner, Carp, O’Neill, and Sosa. That leaves one OF spot.
It seems to be a three person race between Thomas, Williams, and Dean unless there are more transactions between now and opening day. Of the three I would say Thomas is the best player but if Williams is out of options that could give him the edge.

ParticipantThe four FS teams generally carry 4 outfielders, but we’ll go with this for now.

February 4, 2021 at 5:34 pm #153424It’s hard to see how they are going to fit all of their OF’s in to the rotation. I could see a few getting farmed out to Independent League teams as I’ve heard mentioned on here. Otherwise there are going to be a lot of cuts.

ParticipantHey… aren’t we holding an extended spring training? We have to, right?
