Vogelbach looking like an over-stuffed Maury Wills there. When Wills hit left handed he would often just drive the ball in to the ground and leg it out for a hit.
September 29, 2021 at 7:50 pm #173921A Dilly Double!

ParticipantBader not getting it done tonight with less than two outs and runners in scoring position. See he’s tired, should have had the night off.
September 29, 2021 at 7:58 pm #173923Man…. I would have run on Tommy Boy on that second out.
As soon as that ball left the players hand towards first….
I would have taken off for home. Test him!!!September 29, 2021 at 8:08 pm #173925In the little I have seen of Rondon, he looks like a player.
September 29, 2021 at 8:22 pm #173927Well this has been a depressing game… i hope this isnt a momentum killer. I dont agree with resting half the team at once.

ParticipantPersonally I wouldn’t have rested the players either. Baseball players don’t really need rest unless they are injured, sore, or sick. The only players that really need rest are pitchers. I think giving one position player a day off per game would have worked better. Plus when you sit so many, it gives the impression that you don’t care about winning. Schildt said that all the players would be giving their all and that they would compete the same as the others. I’m thinking that carp and others have been giving their all all season, still doesn’t change how he has hit. Overall I just don’t agree with how it was implemented. Sure the streak isn’t as important as the playoffs but it’s largely why we are in the playoffs.

ParticipantNice to see miller doing what he always does. Him not being in a cardinal uniform is what I’m most looking forward to after the season. Putting him in there just signals you don’t care about winning.
September 29, 2021 at 8:45 pm #173930Yea.. im excited for this post season but im very excited for this offseason as well. Mainly departure of a few and see how we spend our money.

ParticipantI thought mikolas pitched well. Probably would have been taken out sooner in a more important game. That first inning really drove his pitch count up.
September 29, 2021 at 8:52 pm #173932Andrew Miller has had his signature wipeout slider going for the last few games. He could have saved a lot of people a lot of misery if he had pitched like that for the last three years. If Miller can keep that disgusting slider going, he could be a difference maker in the postseason. That would be something to experience after these last three years of frustration with Miller.

ParticipantPretty much went out nary a whimper. Hopefully means nothing in the long term but we will see. That starter for the brewers just seems to dominate us though. I don’t personally see anything great but I’m not batting. If by some amazing thing we would end up playing the brewers in the league championship series, they should just start him every other game and go about 5 innings each time. We probably wouldn’t stand a chance.
September 30, 2021 at 4:34 am #173942I wonder if the 35,000 think they got their money’s worth.

stlcard25ParticipantI guess the streak had to come to an end at some point. Hopefully start a new one today. I wonder if the lineups will include the B team every game until the WC game?

I hope not. It’d be a very poor decision to possibly destroy the team’s rhythm.
