Well pitching has been solid. Our hitting has cooled but that’s ok. Just be nice to get this sweep and get ready for the brewers.

I like McFarland. I don’t really know his status far as next year but I think the Cardinals need to try to keep him around.

Funny thing watching that hit the royals just got. You would think you would either put h to your defense or play your defense to how you are going to pitch but no matter, we won. Now let’s go for 9 in a row.

Top of the lineup multiple hits and almost everybody with a hit. Good pitching all game through! Go Cardinals!

Knizner has been doing a great job of not looking like a starting catcher. I think he will get a lot of reps from here on as he has been, and then a decision will be made. .177 as of now.

Herrera may or may not come on. It is hard to measure a guy who has been moved up so fast and is young for level. He was a .280ish hitter in A ball, fine but not extraordinary, so I am thinking defensive ability must be good. Either that or he blew the doors off the virtual reality hitting experience booth. He has been doing better in AA lately but still has a lowly batting line.

We have had pretty damned good catching over the years. I think it has a lot to do with our winning tradition. That is why I would like to see a move for a really good Catcher, such as Perez, or even wait for Contreras. Knizner I see as a so-so at best or a decent backup. His hitting needs to improve to get there. Herrera still has a long ways to go. He may get there but at least two years away, imo.

Right now feel we are fine at catcher. An injury could change that but as is it’s fine. I personally think molina has two years left in him. Knizner is fine as spot starter and backup. By then things will have been decided. Far as the young player not hitting. Molina couldn’t hit for anything early.

If we could play only the Marlins, Royals, Giants and post trade deadline cubbies during regular season play, we’d win the division by 43 games. You know the cubbies are getting to be a pretty scary ball club. They’re so lousy that they could challenge Pittsburgh for that #2 pick in the 2022 draft. But our boys are looking decent right now. I’m thinking at this exact stage of the season, our 2021 odds of post season play are probably better than what our 2011 squad faced.

Now we will see what happens when the opponent has a pulse…..

Yes, let’s not get overly excited by this “streak” through Pittsburgh and Kansas City.
