I thought Gyorko was dead, but not a bad move considering it was with 2 outs…which then turned out to be a good move.
Wong comes up big again with a run scoring 2 out single to right! Gyorko was dead meat at home if Hundley would have hung on to the ball. 3-1 Redbirds.
Exactly Pugs! I wouldn’t expect 7 innings but he shows well, is composed, and even packs some power!
Maybe Ross relieving almost exclusively is driven by analytics. He fares much better the first time through a lineup compared to subsequent loops.
Yep, Ross gets the game ball if our Birds go on to win this one. After Gant’s rough start, things looked as if it just might be SF’s night. But then Ross entered this game and immediately put the Giants right in their place. Oh oh! A Hicks free pass and a single has the Giants thinking big inning here in the 7th with no outs….and now Ozuna cannot catch a short fly to left that he should have corralled with relative ease and the Giants have sliced the Cardinal lead to 3-2 with still no outs….runners at 1st and 2nd. Panik strikes out swinging! A Hicks wild one sends the 2 runners both another 90 feet towards paydirt. Longoria raps a grounder to 1st that Carpenter snags, but Hansen will score the tying run as Carpenter touches 1st base for out #2. Hundley swats one over towards the line in right!….that Jose makes a nice running catch on….sweet!…and whew!! GAME tied, but as a Cardinal fan I feel blessed right now, compliments of Jose flashing a bit of the leather.
Maybe Jose is starting to feel comfy out there in right. I know it’s a long shot, but what do you think the odds are of Jose ever taking home a Gold Glove award? Stranger things have happened.

Hard to believe that a week from Sunday puts a wrap on the regular season. It doesn’t see all that long ago when we were playing exhibition ball down in Florida. Well our ballplayers have all got a bit fatter in the wallets over the course of this season…while we fans have all got a little fatter in the belly…..doesnt seem all that fair.
