Thank goodness Yadi went yard
September 4, 2018 at 10:08 pm #68212Bad bullpen showed up tonight. Need one more out!
September 4, 2018 at 10:09 pm #68213Zim smokes a 2-run double to left making it verrrry interesting….11-8 Great Guys still in command. Thank God for the Yadi granny!
September 4, 2018 at 10:12 pm #68214Difo walks and now the tying run is at the dish. Difo is a player! Not sure how good, but the guy is a player.
September 4, 2018 at 10:16 pm #68215Garcia with a great play to stop the bleeding.
September 4, 2018 at 10:16 pm #68216Hicks could make a bold statement right here as far as his quest to be named as the 299th closer for the St. Louis Cardinals in it’s storied history.
September 4, 2018 at 10:17 pm #68217Like I said, never a doubt! Hicks retires the final batter representing the tying run at the plate. The Cards survive, 11-8.
September 4, 2018 at 10:19 pm #68218Brewers edging Chicago right now 11-1 in the 8th.
September 4, 2018 at 10:21 pm #68219William Hendricks tossing a no-no thru 6 in Oakland this evening. A’s leading 1-0 on a Piscotty long one.
September 4, 2018 at 10:24 pm #68220It’s not all that often where you witness 19 combined runs in a game….yet there was only one inning where just 1 run was scored.
September 4, 2018 at 10:34 pm #68221Don’t ask me why, but a song keeps running thru my mind right now that I think exemplifies this game tonight….”Red Skies At Night” by The Fixx. There’s a rather unheralded band from yesteryear that put out a few kick butt tunes. If you want to hear 2 dandies, strum up “Saved By Zero” and “Red Skies At Night” by The Fixx.
September 4, 2018 at 11:32 pm #68223Almost couldn’t buy an out in the last half of the ninth. Good golly. Our bullpen is either lava hot or cold as ice. But not as bad as the Nats BP which reminds me of the Braves BP in 2011 that let the Cards back into the playoffs when they petered out in Sep. Just need to win games right now and take advantage of the Mariners/Cubs matchups. And, I’m starting a new thread — who pitches in a WC game?
September 5, 2018 at 12:46 am #68224We can’t continue giving up nine and ten walks per game. Got lucky tonight.
September 5, 2018 at 9:14 am #68261We issued 11 walks and still won the game. That needs to get cleaned up pronto Mike Maddux.
September 5, 2018 at 9:18 am #68262leaky pen right now…Gallegos call up might help…still, everyone in the pen is a little down right now… not many options for who may step up…lots of guys to try but no one dominating
I think you go back to Norris next time there is a chance, him or Hicks seem the most groomed for the role and Hicks still has trouble throwing strikes
Hudson might be worth a look too..

ParticipantPugs…. Big Fixx fan here. Red Skies and Saved By Zero on that album were great… I have the vinyl from ’82. The Red Skies video with Cy Curnin was special. Now its running through my head…. going to youtube now.
Anyway, we need to win games like last night’s. It was imperative to stop the 3-game slide. The offense covered up the lack of the performance of the guys running to the mound.
