We just HAVE to avoid a sweep in this series. If we get swept, we may as well try and improve the roster for next year.

Kris Bryant, who injured a finger the other day, is not in the Cubs lineup today.

Using the same starters, I think I would rather see the lineup as:

    Carpenter
    Fowler
    Pham
    Gyorko
    Wong
    Molina
    DeJong
    Grichuk
    Martinez

Since Fowler’s return from the DL (10 games), he is OPSing 588. Not a good look for the #3….or #2 for that matter. He needs to get it going again.

Molina has a sore ankle. Better not be serious or that DFA of Fryer will look really dumb.

LOL, beer-bellied cubs fan made a really nice catch leaning over the railing on the Grichuk HR. Cards close the gap to 2-1.

Carlos has really struggled lately…not sure if it’s focus or his weird hair or what. 5 hits already and not through the 2nd. Gonna be another tax on the bullpen if he doesn’t get it together.

Martinez doesn’t look good at all so far today or even lately at all, maybe he should worry more about pitching and less about acting like other hitters.

Dejong didn’t help Carlos with that whiff on the grounder. Heyward followed with a liner to put 2 runners on with none out. Blech.

This is one of the greatest innings of the year.

Nice to see our guys give the other team’s pen a few lumps.

11-3 heading to the bottom of the 8th.

Now, this is about the only time i would ever feel comfortable with Rosenthal in the game. I’m not watching, but i assume Matheny has put him out on the mound?

Oh continues to struggle. Thankfully there is a big cushion but he’s not going to be worth anything in a trade at this point.

The 8th inning was really entertaining today – if you like walks…I think our first six runs of the inning came on three hits…Nice to see the OBP machine come together!!!

Good to get the win, for sure. Now let’s get two more and get out of town. 🙂

Good to see some “O” today. Hope they retain muscle memory tomorrow from hitting the ball today. Cubs definitely beatable this year, and this series.
