July 6, 2017 at 10:50 am #26777Any word on Diaz? is there a timetable for him to return?
also any word on who the closer is? I am starting to consider giving Brebbia a shot at it, i like his stuff
July 6, 2017 at 1:12 pm #26808Ouch, not a good first inning for Martinez. Slacks on defense allowing Gordon to take an extra base, then called out on strikes at bat.
Gyorko called out as well, on a pitch that looked high and outside. But he swung at a lousy pitch for strike two.
Only the first inning, but this club continues to make mental and defensive miscues that hamper their game. The blame for that is largely on the coaching staff.
July 6, 2017 at 2:16 pm #26813Voit having a good game so far. He has homered and doubled, knocking in three runs, and the Redbirds lead 3-2 in the 5th.
Milwaukee leading the Cubs 5-0 in the 3rd at Wrigley in a makeup game.

July 6, 2017 at 2:42 pm #26815Cubs had bases loaded with nobody out in the 3rd and only scored one run. 9-1 Milwaukee after 3
July 6, 2017 at 2:43 pm #26816Glad Matheny was smart enough to remove Wacha there against Stanton
July 6, 2017 at 2:46 pm #26817Grichuk with a solo shot. 4-2 Cards

ParticipantWacha looking pretty good again. Grichuk with a homerun. He needed that!

stlcard25ParticipantThat extra run could prove huge.
Carpenter seems to be most affected by the shift of anyone this year. He is torching the ball but it always seems to be right at someone. The final out of the 6th is a great example.
July 6, 2017 at 3:12 pm #26822
stlcard25ParticipantIt proved crucial already. Lyons wasn’t sharp and Cecil couldn’t get Ozuna…4-3 Cards.
July 6, 2017 at 3:45 pm #26824
stlcard25ParticipantOh coming in to face the heart of the order. Nervous time…
July 6, 2017 at 3:57 pm #26825Oh with the save. Cards salvage a split with the Marlins.
July 6, 2017 at 4:00 pm #26826
stlcard25ParticipantOh closes it out…4-3 Cards. Good overall job by the bullpen today. Need a sweep of the Mets to feel good going into the break.
July 6, 2017 at 9:52 pm #26849So happy we managed a split.
July 6, 2017 at 10:35 pm #26852Good win today, need to do the same against deGrom tomorrow.
July 7, 2017 at 9:40 am #26901Nice win. Really needed 3 of 4 in that series, but a bad start by Leake was the big factor in keeping us from it. Wacha is really throwing hard this year. He seems healthy, and if his stamina holds up he might just be our best pitcher in the second half.
If both guys pitch close to the top of their games the remainder of the year, Martinez and Wacha could be the keys to making a second half run at the division title.
