At the game in the Redbird Club. Flaherty losing some control in the 4th, but only 50 pitches so far. 7 LOB for Cards is not good but at least they’re getting on base. I sense Cards runs coming next inning or two.
I have to agree with you there, booyah. The manager got Flaherty out at the right time, but went with Sherriff too long with an extended pen.
Votto is now hitting .470 vs. St. Louis this season. Why do they continue to pitch to him? Not quite Big Papi territory, but it still makes me scratch my head.
He had 2+ batters to get someone loose. Basically the replay was an AB because it took so long and then you’ve got Votto. So when the runner was going to be called safe. Which you had to of known you at least get someone up at the latest and let Ryan face Votto.
You just can’t do that when the margin of error is so slim this late in the season and against a team who can beat you with the long ball. Not to mention with the lefty-righty match up.
The 5th inning was stunning. It pretty much has slammed the door for the night and it shouldn’t have gone that way. It would’ve been a good idea to be thinking ahead a batter or two.
Bottom of the 9th now, Cards still down 6-0, Cubs leading in the bottom of the 7th 6-2, Brewers up 8-2 in the top of the 7th…
They’re back to their old form. Poor relief pitching and management, and poor situational hitting. Someone needs to tell Carp he needs to swing the bat if he wants to get a hit. He’s getting too used to walks. Cubs and Brewers winning. Bad night all around.
