When the schedule had more divisional games I would sometimes hear people complain that their team played too many games against the same teams and not wnough against other teams. Then they open up the schedule and you hear how your team does not play enough “rivalry” games. Can’t please everyone.
Personally I would have it so you play your division rivals a few more times than other league teams, and you play other league teams a few more times than inter-league teams. But the logistics of that is quite a task.
