Winn does look like something extra special. The only trouble is that we already have Dejong, Edman (Edman’s natural position is SS and he might be good enough defensively to win a Gold Glove there), and Sosa to play short. With that and all the talent in the pipeline, and a pretty young lineup at the major league level, it looks like we have plenty of dry powder for acquiring a top of rotation pitcher. The problem is, as always, every potential trade partner thinks their prospects are future HOFers. It would be painful to waste any of our top prospects in a trade that didn’t benefit the Cardinals.
