I thought the Cardinals were serious post season contenders before the Pujols signing ’82. Bringing Albert aboard does not really impact that much, but he is a nice addition to help the young guys and maybe win a game or two with a big hit in a high pressure situation.
Welcome sjeff70! I have wondered about that 10-year service part of Albert’s contract with the Angels as well. When he was released and wanted to still play I figured the Halos bought out that part of his deal, and he is no longer committed to it. But that is only a guess.
As for the Hall, it is not even close. Albert will have a Cardinal’s insignia on his hat.
