Not 100% clear, but it looks like the Cards may have already paid the Mariners for their part of Leake’s contract…
Mike Leake was originally scheduled to earn $15 million from the #DBacks in 2020, with the #Mariners paying $9 million of his salary. He has an $18 million club option for 2021 with a $5 million buyout. The Mariners must also pay the #Dbacks $5 million on Jan. 15, 2021.
