A top 20 prospect in the Cardinals system, infielder Deniel Ortiz, has been placed on the injured list at Double-A Springfield.
On Saturday, April 4, the St. Louis Cardinals made the following two roster moves affecting Double-A Springfield:
- Placed INF Deniel Ortiz on the 7-Day Injured List.
- Activated INF Trey Paige from the Development List.

In his Double-A debut stint of just five plate appearances pre-injury, the 21-year-old Ortiz was 0-for-5 with two strikeouts.
Upon his activation, Paige will be making his 2025 debut.

- The Palm Beach Cardinals placed infielder Michael Dattalo on the seven-day injured list. In the very early going, the 22-year-old is 0-for-3 with a strikeout plus a walk.
- Replacing Dattalo on Palm Beach’s active list is infielder Johnfrank Salazar, who had opened the season on the Development List.
- The Cardinals signed international free agent infielder Diego Concepcion to a contract and assigned the 18-year-old to the Dominican Summer League. This signing was disclosed informally in December, but it took until now for all the necessary approvals to be completed.
