On Tuesday, June 4, the St. Louis Cardinals swapped one right-handed relief pitcher for another.
- RHP Ryan Loutos optioned from St. Louis to Memphis
- RHP Chris Roycroft recalled to St. Louis from Memphis
In Monday night’s bullpen loss in Houston, Loutos took over with the Cardinals down 6-4 in the eighth. Before securing the final out, he yielded a ground rule RBI double, scoring a runner inherited from JoJo Romero.
In his first two MLB appearances, Loutos has been charged with no runs in 1 1/3 innings on two hits and a walk. He joined the Cardinals on May 20 from Memphis. With the Redbirds, Loutos had a 1.72 ERA in 13 appearances.
In the corresponding transaction to Loutos’ arrival with St. Louis on May 20, Roycroft was sent down to Memphis. Roycroft, 26, has a 6.00 ERA in six innings over five outings with St. Louis. He first came up on May 6 and also served as the 27th man for the May 22nd doubleheader.
With Memphis in 2024, Roycroft is 1-0 with two saves and a 0.98 ERA in 14 appearances.
